WHAT HAPPENED?
Sane played his last game for the club as Bayern beat Flamengo 4-2 in the Club World Cup round of 16, with his contract expiring on Monday. As of July 1, he will be a Galatasaray player, having agreed to join the club after rejecting Bayern's offer to extend his deal.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Sane joined Bayern from Manchester City in 2020 for €49 million (£41m/$53m) and made 223 appearances for the German champions, scoring 61 goals and providing 55 assists. Despite an inconsistent 2024-25 season where he managed 13 goals and six assists in 48 appearances, he remained a part of Vincent Kompany's plans until the Club World Cup. Before he goes, though, the 29-year-old winger hoped to enjoy his last evening with his fellow Bundesliga champions.
